Personal Profile

Christian Lundgaard (born July 23, 2001 in Vejle, Denmark) is a 24-year-old IndyCar driver currently living in Indianapolis, Indiana and racing for Arrow McLaren. Inspired by his childhood hero — his father, former racing driver Henrik Lundgaard — Christian has carried his passion from Denmark to the U.S., establishing himself as one of the sport’s rising stars.

Racing Career

2010-2016

Gokart

Began karting in Denmark at age 8. Quickly rose through national and European karting ranks. Racing for teams like WARD Racing, Energy Course, Ricciardo Kart.

Won the 2014 CIK-FIA KFJ European Championship, establishing himself as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

2017-2018

Formula 4 & Formula Renualt 2.0 Eurocup

Joined the Renault Sport Academy. Graduated to single-seaters in 2017. Christian won the Spanish F4 Championship and the Northern European Zone (NEZ) F4 Championship in his debut year, taking multiple wins and podiums.

Formula Renault Eurocup (2018) 

Competed in the Eurocup, finishing runner-up in the championship with wins and consistent podiums.

2019-2021

FIA Formula 3

FIA Formula 2

Moved into FIA Formula 3 in 2019, claiming victories and strong results. Stepped up to FIA Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix. Scored multiple podiums and race wins in F2, racing against the next generation of Formula 1 drivers.Remained a key Renault/Alpine Academy driver during this period.

2022-Present

NTT INDYCAR SERIES

2022 – IndyCar Rookie Season (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing)

  • Signed full-time with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

  • Impressed early with 2nd place at the Indy GP (July), his first career podium.

  • Showed strong pace on road/street courses, earning consistent top-10s.

  • Won IndyCar Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Dane to take the honor.

2023 – Breakthrough Victory

  • Continued with RLL for a second season.

  • Claimed his first IndyCar win at the Honda Indy Toronto, a historic moment as the first Danish driver to win in IndyCar.

2024 – Building Consistency

  • Third season with RLL, fighting consistently near the front.

  • Showed standout performances on street and road courses, enhancing his reputation as one of the grid’s best young talents.

2025 – New Chapter with Arrow McLaren

  • Signed with Arrow McLaren, one of IndyCar’s top organizations.

  • Aims to contend regularly for wins and push toward a future championship.
